My Journey

A Life in Education

My career began in the classroom, where I quickly recognized the incredible power of teacher well-being on student success. Over the years, I’ve served as an instructional coach, union president, and researcher, always advocating for a holistic approach to education.

The Power of Emotional Health

My research focuses on the role of teacher emotional well-being in shaping student outcomes and school culture. I believe that teachers are the first ripple—their ability to self-regulate, connect, and lead directly impacts those they serve.

From Systemic Challenges to Lasting Solutions

I’ve seen firsthand how burnout, systemic constraints, and emotional disconnection hinder progress in education. My work aims to equip educators and leaders with the tools they need to navigate these challenges with clarity, resilience, and purpose.

Why Teacher Wellness Matters

Ten Powerful Insights

  • Teachers are ripple makers who create lasting impact on students, families, and communities.

  • Social & emotional well-being fuels health, happiness, and productivity.

  • Education must go beyond academics, prioritizing critical thinking and personal growth.

  • Well-being unlocks potential when basic and emotional needs are met.

  • Teachers are overloaded, facing immense demands with limited systemic support.

  • SEL without teacher support is a waste, as billions spent on programs fail without proper training.

  • Systemic barriers need solutions, empower teachers rather than burden them with bureaucracy.

  • The human side of education matters most - learning thrive when relationships, and cognition align.

  • Bridging the gap between policy and practice is essential, as SEL succeeds only when leaders support educators.
